Sports medicine is not just for athletes.
Whether you’re a ‘weekend warrior,’ or a training for your next triathlon, an injury can be devastating to your daily life.
At Healthpointe, we take a team approach to customize your treatment to return to a pain free lifestyle so you can pursue your personal and athletic goals, as well as enhancing your quality of life.
Our board certified physicians will evaluate your health and determine which doctors, physical therapy, and modalities will get you back on track to peak performance.
Common injuries that we see and provide treatment for include:
- Knee Injuries, including ACL Tears, Cartilage Injuries, and Meniscal Tears
- Concussions
- Dislocations
- Fractures
- Sprains and Strains
- Tennis Elbow
What is the difference between an acute injury and a chronic one?
Both types of injuries occur during active motion; the extent of time that it took to experience it is what makes the difference, and your treatment at Healthpointe may reflect that.
An acute injury occurs when there is a singular moment of impact such as trips and falls, concussions, or overextending a body part.
When it becomes a chronic injury, it is usually due to excessive wear or use of a body part over an extended period. You will see that runners will commonly experience knee or feet pain, while tennis or football players may develop issues in their arms, legs, and shoulders.
Healthpointe offers recuperative care for all types of acute and chronic injuries.
Our team of specialists may suggest physical therapy in addition to medication. Physical therapy may include modalities such as ice, heat, electrical stimulation, in addition to splints and braces to prevent further injury.
